X-Men: Days of Future Past sadly cut out most of Rogue (always my favorite character after Storm — comic book Storm, not movie Storm). Today we learned that we’ll be able to check out all of Anna Paquin’s scenes in a separate ‘Rogue Cut’ that will be released sometime in the first half of next year, according to Variety. Wait, it’s not just going to be on the Blu-ray?
According to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, Rogue’s storyline, which involved being saved by Professor X and Magneto is kind of huge. “It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie. We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film—behind the camera, and in front of it… Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”
So, why was it cut? It didn’t “serve the main story.” “I thought it would increase the urgency and the stakes of the plot in the future, but it actually does the opposite, because it makes you feel like there is an answer out there,” he said. “You think once Rogue gets here, we’ll have an unlimited amount of time. The ticking clock that we’d established with Kitty getting wounded and losing her powers… well, Rogue would show up and press stop on the clock. So for all of those narrative reasons, there was this ten-minute subplot that had to go.”
She act very well in the x-men movie and perform like a pro.
