Welcome to the Legion!

Hey there Icon-O-Clash fans! Have you been having fun voting for your favorite female genre characters so far? Wait ’til you see the mashups the Sweet Sixteen round has in store.

Bracket 1: Game of Thrones fan-favorite Arya is taking on dark horse surprise contender Samantha Carter from Stargate SG-1. Will the fierce little Stark’s “Needle” be enough to impale Carter’s momentum?

Bracket 2: Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger faces off against The X-Files’ Dana Scully. The truth is out there, it’s just a matter of seeing whether or not it wields a wand or an FBI badge.

Bracket 3: It’s a battle between two of Joss Whedon’s most formidable heroines! Will Buffy the Vampire Slayer finally fall to a well-placed bullet from Firefly’s Zoe Washburne, or will she slay the competition?

Bracket 4: The new headmistress of Hogwarts takes on the headstrong heroine of outer space as Minerva McGonagall faces off against Ellen Ripley. I frankly can’t even believe I typed that sentence and have no idea who would or should win. It’s just too much awesome for one bracket.

Bracket 5: In one of our more interesting battles, we have The X-Men’s Kitty Pryde versus Game of Thrones’ Brienne of Tarth, in a competition that pits our favorite knight against a dragon (Lockheed) sooner than any of us ever expected.

Bracket 6: The unwilling savior of the world faces off against the unknowing savior of the world as The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen competes with Doctor Who’s Donna Noble. In a battle of who’s sassier… well this one is pretty darn evenly matched, actually.

Bracket 7: In one corner, we have a woman who loves machines and nurtures them to health; in another, a woman dedicated to destroying them all with violence and fire. It’s Firefly’s favorite mechanic Kaylee Frye versus The Terminator’s Sarah Connor!

Bracket 8: Our last matchup of this round pits Star Wars’ Princess Leia against Buffy’s Willow Rosenberg. Will the Force be with the inspiration for this very site and community? Or will she fall to the Wiccan who was once taken down/saved by a yellow crayon?

Only your votes will decide their fates and move the next round of heroines into the Elite Eight, and then on to the main arguing and voting at our panel this Saturday, November 1 at 2pm at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo. What are you waiting for? Get clicking, Legion!
