Welcome to the Legion!

Judy-Greer

Judy Greer is awesome. Whether she’s attempting to blackmail the Bluth family as ex-secretary/secret mistress Kitty Sanchez (delivering the classic “Say goodbye to THESE!” gag repeatedly to great comedic effect) on Arrested Development, or sniffing rubber cement and sharing way too much information about her choking fantasies with her super spy co-workers as Cheryl (Carol) Tunt on Archer, Greer always delivers a quirky, energetic, and compelling performance. Now this versatile actress is adding a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to her repertoire, and she revealed her secret part to HeyUGuys:

“I’m Paul Rudd’s estranged ex-wife. We have a daughter together and our relationship is, well, estranged, but I feel like my character is still rooting for him to succeed. I guess that’s about as much as I can say. They gave us all these papers of things we’re allowed to say and things we’re not allowed to say, and I left them in Atlanta. Sorry! [Laughs]”

I admittedly don’t know much about Ant-Man’s ex-wife from the comics, but I do know that Paul Rudd’s character Scott Lang’s main motivation for stealing the shrinking Ant-Man technology from Hank Pym was to infiltrate a medical lab to find a cure for the terminally ill daughter Greer mentioned above. That plotline may have been intact when Edgar Wright was directing the film, but in the new screenplay by director/writer Peyton Reed it seems as if Pym enlists the aid of Lang to “pull off a heist that will save the world,” according to IMDb. Regardless, I’m sure Greer will absolutely kill it with whatever material and screentime she’s given. She’ll easily add texture and spark to the proceedings, further cementing the fact that Marvel Studios knows how to assemble killer casts for their flicks. Be sure to check Judy out in Ant-Man when it hits theaters on July 17th.
