A TV series about Superman’s grandfather in the works at Syfy? Are we just plumbing the depths here? According to Deadline, a new series Krypton is coming to us from David S. Goyer (Constantine) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time). Apparently the show will center about Grandpa Supes as “he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known.” This is after the House of El was shamed, of course.
Okay, Legion, I want to know how you feel about this. I’m prepared to watch, but it seems like this is a bit of a stretch. Do you agree?
Not sure why you feel this one is a stretch. There’s a whole world that could be explored on Krypton with all sorts of large and small scale drama, completely free from most continuity. Personally, I think a Superman Krypton prequel sounds a lot more promising and exciting than a Batman Gotham one.
Actually I am very intrigued. If this is done well then we can have on our hands one of the greatest additions to the Superman Universe, like how we learned about Lex’s father Lionel, in Smallville.
