Welcome to the Legion!

Ant-Man-Banner

In the Marvel comics source material, Yellowjacket was one of the (many) heroic identities of founding Avenger Hank Pym, but in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, Yellowjacket will be a black-and-yellow clad force of evil; the primary antagonist for Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang version of the Ant-Man character. Today a new marketing banner for the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two film offered up a glimpse of the Yellowjacket suit, and it is, in a word, badass. Looking like a more high-tech and refined version of the Ant-Man costume, the Yellowjacket suit is also outfitted with some killer extra appendages, drawing comparisons to another famous Marvel villain whose rights are unfortunately tied up with Sony, Doctor Octopus.

Yellowjacket will be portrayed in the film by House Of Cards’ star Corey Stoll, who gave the lowdown regarding this version of the character to i09 back in August:

“Well, you know, Yellowjacket, it’s slightly different from in the comic books. Yellowjacket was a suit that Hank Pym, Michael Douglas’ character, used and he sort of did some ethically questionable things as Yellowjacket. Now, in our story, I’m Darren Cross who is one of the characters in the comic books and he invents this suit that can do everything that the Ant-Man suit can do, plus more. It’s more militaristic, it’s more advanced, it’s armored… and then he is Yellowjacket.”

I can’t wait to see this ultra-cool costume in action, and it looks like I won’t have to wait too long — the first Ant-Man trailer has just been certified and should debut sometime next week!
