As if the cast of Supergirl wasn’t already great, Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) and David Harewood (Homeland) have been cast opposite Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart. The CBS pilot is written by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg.
Supergirl based on the DC comic character centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Since her arrival on Earth this Krypton-born “Supergirl” has been hiding the powers that she shares with non other than her famous cousin, Superman. As she enters into her 20’s she has decided to embrace her abilities and be the hero she was born to be.
Leigh has been cast to play Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Kara’s foster sister. Always fascinated by her sister’s power, Alex developed a lifelong obsession with science which drives her to becoming a doctor.
Harewood was cast to be Hank Henshaw, a former CIA agent who now runs the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO) which tracks extraterrestrial threats on Earth. If you follow the DC Comics, you’ll remember, Henshaw is a villain who eventually becomes Cyborg Superman.
Supergirl hail from Arrow and Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti and The New Normal’s Ali Adler, who will write and executive produce with Sarah Schechter. Also Arrow and Flash’s Andrew Kreisler has signed on as an executive producer and writer on Supergirl.
