Welcome to the Legion!

Zack Snyder took to Twitter early Friday morning and hit us with our first official glimpse at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. He looks mean and badass, and it’s clear from the aesthetic they went with that the production wants any and all memory of “that useless blonde guy in orange who talks to fish” permanently eradicated.

Overall, I’m disappointed with this look. It’s Khal Drogo with a trident instead of an Arakh, and my immediate reaction was “Nice tribal ink, bro. Which way to the Godsmack concert?” It’s unimaginative, obvious, and grim – everything you’d expect from the world Zack Snyder has created. We continue to see a DC Comics movie universe where there is no light, no color, and no traditional heroism to be found. This approach will no doubt appease Man Of Steel fans who are more than happy with Warner Bros./DC Entertainment’s #NoJokes philosophy, but for me it’s a dud. What do you folks think?
