Marvel/Disney is already laying the groundwork for the next phase before bookending Phase 2 with Ant-Man. Rumor has it that Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has already been cast will make a cameo at the conclusion of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Who did they cast? No clue. They’re keeping this one pretty close to the chest.
According to one fanboy journalist’s Instagram, there have been a few drafts in Age of Ultron where Captain America forms a new team at the end — likely an after-credits scene. Among the newcomers would be Carol Danvers. As for Captain Marvel’s standalone flick, he goes on to say:
[T]he Marvel brain trust has blocked out the plot & story with the intention of bringing an established writer to write the script. Comic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick wanted to take a crack at writing the screenplay but I’m not sure if she got the gig. Also, I’m told legendary comic writer Jim Starlin, who has a rich history with Captain Marvel is aboard the project as a consultant. All of the above is UNCONFIRMED so take with grain of salt until further notice but it’s within the realm of plausibility.
I should note that the writer is from Latino Review, whose reputation for reliable sources are pretty 50/50. In other words, a grain of salt might have more value than this rumor.
That said, who do you think was chosen to portray this tough as nails fighter pilot with other-worldly strength? Who do you want it to be?
My vote’s for Katheryn Winnick.
Gemma Arterton, Rhona Mitra, or Summer Glau!
