Welcome to the Legion!

Mission Impossible 5 as it’s been called now has an official name.  Paramount revealed that the next installed of the franchise will be called Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation.

Sound familiar?  The name sound eerily close  to the Star Wars spin off Rogue One.  However Paramount had secured and registered the name long before Disney’s Bob Iger announced the Star Wars spinoff would be called Rogue One at the shareholder meeting on March 12.

Luckily for Disney, who did not get approval for the name, Paramount has made a deal with Disney and LucasFilms with some conditions.

Disney and Lucasfilms cannot refer to the Star  Wars spinoff as Rogue One in any promotional materials geared towards the general population this summer.  The only exception will be in April at the much anticipated fan event, Star Wars Celebration in April.

Rogue Nation stars Tom Cruise as the lead, Ethan Hunt.  Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg will reprise their roles while Rebecca Ferguson will be joing the cast.

Not much is known about Rogue Nation’s plot.  We will see a trailer for the film on Monday.  As well as a TV spot during NCAA basketball games.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is set to hit theaters July 31st.
