Welcome to the Legion!

Paul S. Kemp, writer of Lords of the Sith, a novel due out April 28,2015, has introduced Moff Mors, “an imperial who has made some very serious mistakes but she is an incredibly capable leader and spends much of the book working hard to prevent absolute failure.  She also happens to be a lesbian.” According to Big Shiny Robot.

Star Wars book editor, Shelly Shapiro said that it was more about showing a realistic vision of the universe than about making any kind of statement.  “This is certainly the first character in the canon, Shapiro said. “But there was a gay Mandalorian couple, so it’s not brand new.  It’s not something I really think about, it just makes sense.  There’s a lot of diversity- there should be diversity in Star Wars.  You have all these different species and would be silly to not also recognize that there’s a lot of diversity in humans.”

After an outcry of fans, Bioware added same gender relationships to it’s Star Wars: The Old Republic online roleplaying game.

With Paul S. Kemp’s Lords of the Sith, there is no ambiguity whatsoever.  This is an exciting time the novels.  The inclusion of LGBT characters in mainstream books is a step towards more acceptance.  Personally I am happy to see these characters in any form entertainment, as long as they stay true to what it really means to be LGBT.

The book comes out April 28,2015.
