Dave Filoni, executive producer/supervising director has announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar will join the voice cast in a recurring role for the animated series’ second season. Filoni discussed casting news with advertising clients convened at Lucasfilm’s San Fransico headquarters for Disney Media Sales and Marketing’s presentations.
Filoni said, “We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle on board for season two. She is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar is not a new comer to the industry. Most of us know her for the seven seasons as the lead in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and films such as Cruel Intentions and The Crazy Ones on CBS. Gellar joins a cast that includes her husband Freddie Prinze Jr, Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and David Oyelowo. Gellar character has not been revealed.
Star Wars Rebels unfolds between events of the Star Wars Episodes III and IV and tells the story of the motley but clever crew of the starship Ghost. The show will continue to feature recurring appearances by fan-favorite characters Darth Vader and Ahsoka Tano.
The show is expected to return later this year.
