Welcome to the Legion!

Disneys-Descendants-LOGOThis summer, the Disney Channel will premiere the film Descendants, a unique take on the happily ever after fairy tales we know, and love. Disney’s Descendants are just that, descendants of evil characters such as the Evil Queen(Kathy Najimy), Maleficent( Kristin

Chenoworth), Cruella De Vil (Wendy Racquel Robinson), and Jafar (Maz Jobrani). As well as the good descendant of Beast and Belle, these son’s and daughters meet each other and forge their own stories with empowering themes like self-confidence, finding beauty within, personal responsibility, justice and empathy.

The cast is amazing.  First off we have Dove Cameron (“Liv and Maddie”) playing Mal, the daughter of Maleficent.  Sofia Carson as Evie, Mal’s best friend, and daughter of the Evil Queen.  There’s also Bo0Boo Stewart (yes Twilight) who plays Jay, son of Jafar.  Cameron Boyce plays Carlos the teenage son of Cruella de Vil.  And Mitchell Hope as the son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle) of Auradon.

The story is set in a beautiful picture perfect Auradon, where Ben, the good son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Beauty and the Beast), declares as his first act as King to offer redemption to Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay.  The troublemaking offspring of our well known villains.  For the first time ever, the villainous descendants are allowed to attend the prep school in Auradon right along side the likes of the teenage progeny of the fairy god mother, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Mulan.

When given a chance like this will the villainous teens continue on their path to villaindom?  What is unique about the characters is as they evolve their wardrobe and style evolves along with them.  Especially in Jay’s case, where he goes from a leather clad pick pocket  to an athletic jock who could steal your heart.

All though it would be easy to turn this town upside down by this fearless foursome, however your roots do not define who you are.  We find some of the descendants beginning to enjoy their life in Auradon.  While others still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

Kenny Ortega, best known for directing Newsies, High School The Musical, and Hocus Pocus does not disappoint with the Descendants.  Ortega brings along the quality Disney Entertainment with song and dance that was choreographed so well that it keeps you engaged, motivated and inspired.

I know I certainly can’t wait to see this film this summer.  Check out the trailer below!
