Anne Hathaway is set to star in Colossal reports The Hollywood Reporter.  A film written and directed by Timecrimes’ Nacho Vigalondo for Voltage Pictures. In the film, described as Transformers meets Godzilla, Hathaway will play Gloria, described as your average woman, who after the loss of her job and fiancee decides to leave New York and move back to her home town.

News of strange events happening around the world, such as a giant lizard destroying Tokyo, has Gloria realizing that she is somehow connected to these events through her mind.  Gloria must determine why her very existence has such a ‘colossal’ effect on the fate of the world.

Voltage Pictures will be fully financing Colossal and will be making the project available to foreign buyers at Cannes.

“Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one.  Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations.” Vigalondo said. While Nicolas Chartier, Voltage CEO, added “As huge fans of Timecrimes, we are thrilled to be collaborating with a filmmaker as talented as Nacho.  He has written an extraordinary unique piece of material and we look forward to seeing Anne in such a challenging role.”

Over the years we’ve seen just how versatile a actor Anne can be, from The Princess Diaries to Interstellar.  Hathaway is one of  only 23 people to win an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Critics Choice Award for a single performance(Les Miserables).  I think it’s safe to say Anne is quite capable of making this film amazing.

For those of you who are Anne Hathaway fans, you can see her on screen this September in The Intern .  Anne will also reprise her role as the White Queen in Disney’s sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass, opening in theaters May 27,2016.
