Welcome to the Legion!

Wired showed us the first look at Rob Kazinsky as the Orc Orgrim, in next year’s Warcraft movie.  Kazinsky is best known for his roles in HBO’s True Blood and the film Pacific Rim.

“We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor and the toughness of this character.” Duncan Jones told Wired.  “We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies.  We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.”

Warcraft-Orgrim

Warcraft stars Ben Foster, Travis Fimel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown.  Pretty impressive cast, then again, to undertake a film such as this you surely need some spectacular people.

The script was written by Charles Leavitt and rewritten by Duncan Jones.  The film which is being directed by Jones, finished filming about a year ago, and has been teased at events ever since.  The films release date has been pushed back to June 10, 2016.

The film will explore the initial encounter between humans and orc, with Orgrim Doomhammer being the war chief of the Orcs.  The film is based off the wildly popular World of Warcraft by game developer Blizzard.

The official description below:

“Legendary’s Warcraft is a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based upon Blizzard Entertainment’s globally renowned universe.  Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Duncan Jones, the film is a Legendary pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.  The producers are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Josh Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenian.  Jillian Share, Brent O’Conner, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers.  Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce.  Warcraft will be released by Universal Pictures.”
