It looks like Anna Paquin‘s time as Rogue in the X-Men films has gotten the killer touch.
Fans of the X-Men films and comics will know that, while the film series placed Iceman and Rogue in a long-standing, embattled relationship, the comics featured a very different romance. On the page, Rogue was paired with Gambit, the smooth-talking Cajun mutant with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy.
With the upcoming Gambit solo film, rumors and speculation have been fluttering around the twittersphere about the possibility of Anna Paquin returning to the role of Rogue to play the love interest to Channing Tatum‘s Gambit.
Without any flourish or softness, when asked this question directly on twitter, Paquin replied with an uncapitalized, unpunctuated, “no”.
While it is very possible that the character Rogue might appear in the Gambit film, it has been confirmed that Lea Seydoux will be playing Tatum’s love interest, named Bella Donna Boudreaux. Unfortunately for fans of the wildly popular Gambit/Rogue ship, it is speculated that Gambit will be set in the 1980’s, which- in terms of the new Days of Future Past timeline- would be difficult to logically create a Rogue/Gambit relationship.
The film, which is slated for an October 7, 2016 release date, recently lost its director, leaving Marvel with bigger fish to fry than an audience’s disappointment at the exclusion of Rogue.
