Jeremy-Irons-Alfred-Batman-Superman

While at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his film The Man Who Knew Infinity, Jeremy Irons shared a bit about his role as Batman’s butler/caretaker/confidant/father figure, Alfred, in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

According to Irons, we will be seeing a completely new kind of Alfred!

Zack Snyder, the director, wanted to create a completely different Alfred,” said Irons. “So I felt I didn’t have to carry any baggage from previous ones. It’s sort of a reincarnation if you’d like. I had a feeling I was creating my own Alfred, more of a man who can actually do anything if he has to.”

Sounds like Iron’s Alfred will be more hands-on and ready to kick some ass if necessary.

I can’t wait to see it. No one will ever be able to do what Michael Caine did with the role! So it’s exciting to hear that this new Alfred will be unique instead of just a copycat.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice premieres March 25, 2016.
