Welcome to the Legion!

Ridley Scott announced this week that he would be helming the upcoming sequel to Prometheus.  A spin-off of AlienPrometheus follows a team of scientists as they search the darkest parts of the universe in search of the key to mankind’s origins. As reported in an exclusive from Screenrant, this sequel, which will star Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender in their roles from the original, will be titled Alien: Paradise Lost.

The title harkens back to John Milton‘s epic poem of the same name, but also relates to the in-world translation of the name of a planet.  That planet is inhabited by The Engineers, who created Mankind, and it is largely thought that this film will follow Fassbender and Rapace as they search that planet.  Ridley Scott let it slip that Alien: Paradise Lost will share some similarities to the Biblical fall of man narrative. Though the title relates to its source material, the original Alien film, Scott says that the storylines will not begin to intersect until the third or fourth movie.

Shooting is set to begin on the film in the first half of 2016. It is currently slated for a May 30, 2017 release date.
