Mission: Impossible and Revenge star Henry Czerny has been cast in a guest role as Winslow Schott on CBS’ new comic book drama, Supergirl. His character is best known as the Toyman.
Okay, so he’s not the most prolific villain in the DC Comics universe, but he is a fan favorite. So far Czerny is only booked for one episode, but he’s likely to show up a few more times considering his TV son, Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) could be a recurring character. However, according to IMDB, Winn himself is only showing up for three episodes.
In the comics, the Toyman name gets passed down a number of people over the years, the latest one being Hiro Okamura, pre-New 52. According to Warner Bros., Supergirl’s Winslow Schott, Sr. “is a classic DC super villain, a mad criminal genius known as Toyman – and Winn’s estranged father. Toyman weaponizes toys to wreak destruction and revenge but is ultimately driven by one thing – the obsessive desire to reunite with his beloved son.”
Toyman’s most recent television appearance was on CW’s Smallville, played by Chris Gauthier.
There’s no official word on when Czerny’s Toyman will show up, but you can meet his son for the first time on the Supergirl series premiere tonight, October 26, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. And watch out for Legion of Leia’s recap and review of Supergirl every week!
