Welcome to the Legion!

Garth Ennis’ Preacher is coming to AMC. That much we know. But from the set pictures and promotion so far it looks to be a pretty serious adaptation, in that they look to be taking the material seriously and will be seriously adapting it, seriously. They’re not even pulling any punches with Arseface. But now we also know that the shows first trailer will premiere during The Walking Dead’s 90 minute episode on November 1st.

Preacher follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a small town Texas preacher-man possessed by a mysterious entity that grants him supernatural powers. Jesse sets out with his girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Irish Vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) in a search to, really and for truly, find God.

The series has been developed by show runner Sam Catlin of Breaking Bad fame alongside Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg of Seth-Rogen-&-Evan-Goldberg-fame. Seeing as this is a Rogen/Goldberg production I can imagine a manic energy that I don’t see a whole lot of in television today. I might not actually watch The Walking Dead on November 1st, but I may very well be looking out for that trailer.
