As reported by Hypable, J.K. Rowling has spilled a few details about 4 of the 11 Wizarding World schools around the globe. On Friday night, during the official “A Celebration of Harry Potter” even in Orlando, FL, Pottermore revealed they would be releasing more information on all 11 schools in time. Actress Evanna Lynch, who also happens to be a huge Harry Potter fan, was given the honor of releasing the name and location of the North American Wizarding World school, Ilvermorny (pronounced Ill – ver – morn – ee).
Also, in a press release sent out by Pottermore, a map showing the location of the 4 new schools has been released. Details on 3 of the 4 new schools, including where they are located on a map, can be found on the Pottermore website, now.
The new schools and a little of what we know is listed below.
Illvermorny – Located in the northeastern region of the United States, little else is known about this school.
Castelobruxo (pronounced Cass-tell-o-broo-shoo) – A Brazillian school which is guarded by small and furry spirit beings called Caipora.
Mahoutokoro (pronounced Mah-hoot-o-koh-ro) – The Japanese school where students are given magical robes that not only grow with them as they do, but also change color as they progress in learning. The robes start off a pale pink and can change to gold if they earn the highest grades for every magical subject.
Uagadou (pronounced Wag-a-doo) – The African school carved from a mountainside where students learn how to cast spells using only hand gestures or pointing fingers. A mist surrounding the school also causes it to appear as if it is floating in midair.
In the upcoming movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (opening in November), Newt, played by Eddie Remayne, is expected to run into some students of Ilvermorny as he visits America.
Hopefully we will get some more information on Ilvermorny soon, but until then I’m going to love reading about the other 3 schools. I can’t wait until we find more out about all 11 schools. Thank you, J.K. Rowling, you have made this Potter fan very happy.
