Welcome to the Legion!

Looks like we don’t have to wait until 2017 for our next Star Wars kick. FilmRise snagged the rights to Elstree 1976, a documentary about the making of the franchise directed by Jon Spira and funded entirely through Kickstarter, without Disney’s blessing.

The film premiered at the London Film Festival in October. It follows the behind the scenes of the original film, giving unique insight into the community of actors in the films and the making of a franchise. (Elstree, England, is where A New Hope was produced, and principal photography began in 1976).

FilmRise intends to give the doc a theatrical release in May. Just in time for my birthday!
