Welcome to the Legion!

On this week’s 30th episode of the Legion of Leia podcast, author and activist Carrie Goldman and her daughter, eight-year-old Annie Rose (who wrote the very famous letter to Hasbro asking why Rey wasn’t part of Star Wars Monopoly) join myself and my co-hosts Anastasia Washington and Sabina Ibarra. Carrie is the author of Bullied: What Every Parent, Teacher, and Kid Needs to Know About Ending the Cycle of Fear and Jazzy’s Quest: Adopted and Amazing as well as one of the founders of the Pop Culture Hero Coalition which is committed to putting an end to bullying. (Click on the link to check the books and the site out!) Continue to scroll down for more and the podcast below the pics!

Annie Rose tells us all about the letter she wrote, why Rey is important and what she loves best about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Her sister Katie joins us later in the podcast to talk about it as well. Carrie gives us some really great advice about bullying and issues related to it. We also talk about the news of the day, including Ava DuVernay directing A Wrinkle in TimeThe X-Files young adult novels on the way and the new trailer for the Disney reboot of Pete’s Dragon. (Keep on scrolling down for Annie Rose’s letter and the podcast!)
