Welcome to the Legion!

Since being cast in the newest season of Game of Thrones actor Ian McShane has incurred the wrath of the show’s fiery fan base. After offhandedly revealing a detail of who his character is and what he is going to do (he’s a priest who will revive a “much-loved character” from the dead). Despite how vague he was, McShane has since been lambasted by Game of Thrones’ spoiler-phobic fans. And yet, the actor has only made it very clear he doesn’t give a damn about spoilers:

“You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape… it’s only $%^’s and dragons.”

Yep, that about sums up the internet. But McShane is right about more than that: no piece of genuinely good work will be broken by a spoiler. The fans who fear the very mention of spoilers are missing so much more about the very things they claim to love. Game of Thrones isn’t a good show because of it’s twists and turns, it’s all just details. Besides, we all know how it’s going to end anyway, it’s right there in the original title: A Song of Ice and Fire

But in addition to his bashing of such over-enthusiastic fans, McShane did them another. He explained that his character will appear in only one episode before proceeding to contemplate the likelihood of his being killed off by the end.

Yeah, Ian McShane doesn’t care about spoilers, and neither do I.
