Welcome to the Legion!

vikings

Vikings has been renewed by the History Channel for a fifth season, according to Deadline. The show has consistently been on cable ratings for Thursday nights, so this isn’t really a surprise. In addition, The Tudors star Jonathan Rhys Meyers has joined the cast. There is no information about his role yet, but he can certainly rival star Travis Fimmel in the crazy eyes department.

“The brilliant writing and depth of historical research and authenticity brought to the screen by Michael Hirst paired with our talented cast and crew, has made this series one of the most compelling, visually stunning historical dramas on television,” saidJana Bennett, President and General Manager of History in a press release. “’Vikings’ has raided the hearts of audiences and we are thrilled that Jonathan Rhys Myers will become a bigger part of the HISTORY family after his incredible performance in our upcoming production of ‘Roots’.”

Season 5e of Vikings will begin production this summer to air in 2017.
