In the wake of Batman vs. Superman’s release, DC movies are now in the process of promoting their next tie-in film, Suicide Squad which famously features Jared Leto‘s highly anticipated turn as The Joker. April Fool’s Day is, of course, a prime opportunity for a bit of strategic social media buzz, and to that end, The Joker has begun taking over various social media accounts for other DC comic characters including Wonder Woman, Superman and The Flash.

The hashtag #JokerWasHere is currently solidly trending on Twitter with nearly 30K tweets, and it has a dedicated emoji, made up of The Joker‘s cackling face. Fans are hoping the stunt will also be accompanied by some new film footage, but that remains speculation at this point.

Whether new scenes will be released is an open question for now, but I do not doubt more Joker social media antics are likely to manifest throughout the day. So keep a weather eye out, Suicide Squad fans. You don’t want to miss out on the fun.
