Welcome to the Legion!

I know many of you were squeamish about the upcoming Han Solo standalone film. I was as well. That said, it’s got amazing directors in Chris Miller and Phil Lord (The LEGO Movie) and a pretty amazing star in Alden Ehrenreich (if you haven’t seen Hail, Caesar! you have to do it right now–you’ll be convinced). That combined with the writing of The Empire Strikes BackReturn of the Jedi and The Force Awakens writer Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan mean we actually may get something great. Kasdan talked to the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (reported by Star Wars News Net) about the upcoming film and the franchise going forward.

He said, “You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it. They’re great, funny and imaginative and we’ve had a great time together. My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they’re about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun.” He also talked about Episode VIII, saying, “I have a little information. Ryan [Johnson who is directing the film] is a friend of mine. I’m getting to know Colin Trevorrow, who is going to direct Episode IX, so I feel very involved with it.”

So, who’s feeling better about all of this? The Han Solo film will be released on May 25, 2016.
