News broke this afternoon at The Hollywood Reporter that actor Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Fantastic Four, Fruitvale Station) is now slated to join the Black Panther movie in an as-yet unnamed role. He will be re-teaming with the film’s director, Ryan Coogler, who was also responsible for helming the latest Rocky franchise film Creed, which Jordan starred in alongside Sylvester Stallone.
Chadwick Boseman has already made his debut as the titular Black Panther aka T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being a key player in the recently released Captain America: Civil War film. Actress Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) also is in talks to join the Black Panther film, though no role for her has yet been confirmed.
Black Panther currently has a release date of February 2, 2018, with production slated to begin in early 2017.
