Warner Bros. has released word that they are finalizing movie rights to Monsterpocalypse, a battle miniatures game created by Privateer Press. The studio’s bid topped all competitors for the honor of producing the film. Currently, Warner plans to have Fede Alvarez of Evil Dead fame help write and direct the movie.

The game pits monsters and support troops of varying sizes against one another in unit sizes ranging from “one” to “many,” and it’s become a cult classic. Not only do players get to destroy each other’s armies, they get to wreak havoc on buildings and structures placed on the game’s map. We look forward to seeing how it will all translate to the big screen.

Monsterpocalypse was originally slated to be turned into a movie back in 2010, but those plans fell through for reasons that included the production of Pacific Rim. The previous movie plan had Tim Burton at the helm, which would have given it a vastly different feel than is likely under Alvarez’s guidance.

And yes, parsecs are a measure of distance...and Han Solo was bragging about making an incredibly short Kessel Run, most likely by cutting far too close to planetary bodies/stars when he plotted the course for the jump. No, she's not obsessed, why would you think that? She's on Twitter as @Kuiperama.
