It’s official! Ralph is gonna wreck it.. again. Earlier today in a Facebook Live cast, Rich Moore (director of the original Wreck-It Ralph), along with Phil Johnston (writer of the original Wreck-It Ralph), and John C. Reilly (the voice of Ralph), announced the upcoming sequel to Disney’s 2012 smash hit. The trio were tight lipped as to the plot of the new installment, titled Wreck-It Ralph 2, but Reilly did have this to say about the premise, “Ralph leaves the arcade and wrecks the Internet.” Disney also tweeted confirmation from the @wreckitralph Twitter account, which hadn’t been used since 2013. There was no word as to who else from the original cast might be returning, but I have high hopes they will be able to attract back most of the original stars.
Personally, I am extremely excited by this news. Wreck-It Ralph was my favorite animated film since The Lion King (1994). As a mom who has been a gamer since the Atari 2600 days, the movie just spoke to me. It was also the first movie that my youngest daughter ever really attached herself to. Toddlers will always have that one movie they want to see ad nauseam, and Wreck-It Ralph was hers. I never minded and felt grateful that she chose such a great film. Wreck-It Ralph 2 is definitely going to be a movie I will take my family to day one.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 is set to release in theatres March 9, 2018.
