E3-Star-Wars-Visceral-Games-2

At today’s Electronic Arts conference, EA gave us a special look at what’s going on across various video games studios currently working on Star Wars projects. Each game explores different eras within the Star Wars universe on different platforms, including your mobile phone.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead for EA Star Wars in the next few years and beyond:

2016

DICE is continuing to add more of the content to Star Wars Battlefront with three more digital expansion packs coming by the end of the year – Bespin, Death Star, and an unrevealed final pack in December. For VR fans, DICE is also working with Criterion on an exclusive mission specifically designed for Playstation VR gamers.

With Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, the team at Capital Games has already delivered a deep Star Wars mobile experience featuring iconic characters and locations from every corner of the universe. The game added new features like guilds, raids and chat this spring, with more updates planned throughout the year.

This December, BioWare will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Fans can expect more story-driven content and new game features throughout the year.

2017

A new installment of Star Wars Battlefront is currently in development at DICE, in collaboration with Motive Studios in Montreal. The team at Motive team is growing quickly, and making great progress in building out a significant new addition to the game. Without delving into any specifics, they’ve started development by listening to player feedback while also innovating new areas. I hope this means we’ll get a single player story mode…

2018

A brand new Star Wars story will debut in a new action adventure game from Visceral Games. The Story Team at Lucasfilm and Amy Hennig and the team at Visceral are collaborating to create an original, authentic narrative in the Star Wars universe. From what we can already see in the images provided, the story may even be set while the First Order is already in power.

Beyond

Respawn Entertainment are making their own 3rd person action adventure game, one that features a different style of gameplay and takes place in a different timeline we’ve yet to explore within any of the EA Star Wars titles.
