Welcome to the Legion!

Mass Effect Andromeda-4

Game developer BioWare debuted a behind-the-scenes look at upcoming Mass Effect Andromeda today at the Electronic Arts E3 press conference. The short video featured some new in-game footage (the Frostbite engine makes everything look gorgeous!) and input from members of the development team.

BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn called the highly anticipated game as a game set in “a galaxy where you are the alien.” Players will be part of an “ambitious expedition” to the Andromeda galaxy.

“At the heart of Mass Effect Andromeda is a question: How far will we go?” Flynn said. “…Everything is new.”

In the video the narrator explains that the team is “going further than ever before” to build a new home for humanity.

Andromeda will take place “far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy.” The game will introduce an online component, as well as new species and alien races. Halo 4 writer Chris Schlerf was attached as the lead writer, but left the company earlier this year to join Destiny developer Bungie.

Mass Effect Andromeda was originally slated to launch this holiday, but has since been pushed back for an early 2017 release. You can want the official EA Play extended look of Andromeda below.
