A huge update on the long gestating project.
After years of talk going back to 2012, that Beyonce would be playing the lead in the Bradley Cooper produced remake of A Star Is Born, the latest news reported by Deadline reveals that Lady Gaga is in talks to replace Queen Bey.
The Warner Bros. film garnered speculation of this pairing when Cooper and Gaga were spotted together on a motorcycle ride and having dinner in May. The report states the nature of the meeting as follows:
“The update here is they tested and the studio loved the results. I can tell you reliably that she was the one actress he went to, after things didn’t work out with Beyonce, and they sparked to one another.”
Negotiations are speculated to be forthcoming.
The film is being produced by Cooper and Todd Phillips under the umbrella of their Joint Effort Banner. Cooper is also set to direct the film as his behind the camera debut. This would be Lady Gaga‘s first feature lead role after winning a Golden Globe for best actress in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Hotel.
A Star is Born is a remake of the 1934 David O.Selznick produced film which inspired both the 1954 George Cuckor film starring Judy Garland and the 1976 film starring Barbara Streisand.
