Lindsey Stirling/Disney

Two days ago our fellow geek Lindsey Stirling released a new music video titled ‘Something Wild’ on her Youtube channel to promote both the release of her upcoming album and the release of Disney’s Pete’s Dragon. As a rabid fan of both Lindsey Stirling and all things dragon, the release of this new video has made me flail with excitement. It’s also giving us more of an idea as to what her next album’s underlying theme will be since this song is featured on the album.

The video for ‘Something Wild’ is a bit simple, but it works for the message and overall theme of the video. You see two kids, one boy and one girl, engaging in mystical adventures inspired by boy’s artwork. It gives us a very ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ vibe, except without the sheer gut-wrenching heartache. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go and check out that book to read. You’re missing out.

The song’s message is encouraging, reminding the listener to never give up. When moments are tough, remember that you’ve gotten this far in life relatively okay. We get to see glimpses of Pete’s Dragon in an editing job that I thought was okay. The one part that I thought should be removed was when Lindsey Stirling was dressed up in a fancy gown with a starry background behind her. It just didn’t fit in with the general image that the video was going for. Overall, I thought the song and video flowed nicely. It was definitely uplifting and made me smile.

Check out the music video for Lindsey Stirling’s ‘Something Wild’ music video featuring the vocal stylings of Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. Pete’s Dragon will premiere in theaters August 12, 2016. Lindsey Stirling’s album ‘Brave Enough’ will be released on August 19, 2016.
