Casting is underway for Season 7 of Game of Thrones and, honestly, anything goes. Things are rather complicated due to the fact that George R. R. Martin has yet to release the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, which means that nothing can truly be predicted. The show has now surpassed the books. We saw this towards the end of the fifth season and all throughout the sixth season when the show starting pushing newer material.

This leads us to the casting news. Jim Broadbent has been cast in an undisclosed role for the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones. Since the team behind Game of Thrones is notorious for not revealing spoilers, instead giving us the most vague of information. All the information we have is that the role Jim will be playing is a “significant” role in the series. We could always try to guess which character he’ll play from A Song of Ice and Fire series, but that would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Descriptions for casting notices for the seventh season have been, as one would expect, vague and rather non-nondescript. In fact, at times, the casting descriptions that are sent to agencies are inaccurate in order to keep things severely under lock and key. Producers have to make sure that nothing truly substantial to the story is posted online, so this is just a clever way for producers to get around the whole ‘post everything on the internet’ rule society falls under today.

Season 7 will begin production late fall due to a need to shoot in harsher winter conditions. This delay in filming is the reason behind why we will not get a season premiere in April like we normally do. Instead the new season will premiere in the summer of 2017. The new season will only have 7 episodes instead of the usual 10. Until then, while we wait for the series to start filming, we just have to wait and see what news will be released next.

What do you think of this new casting? Who do you think Jim Broadbent will play in Game of Thrones? Let us know in the comments below.
