Empire

In an exclusive by Empire for it’s upcoming issue, we are provided with some concept art that depicts what should be an epic battle between the odd band of miscreants and a furry rodent Cthulhu hybrid. We see all of the team members: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and our ever adorable baby Groot (Vin Diesel). Out of everyone in this piece of artwork, our little living tree is having way more fun than his teammates. I would expect nothing less.

We do not have any information as of yet that provides us any insight into whether or not this scene will emerge in Guardian of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. If it does get used as an actual scene, I estimate that it’ll probably be our first scene in the film or something that gets used as a distraction by the vengeful Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) while she figures out her next step for achieving her sinister brand of vengeance. Regardless of how this concept art will come to life, I am just immensely happy to see the creative process behind this next installment and can’t wait for James Gunn and his team to give us any and all information for the upcoming film.

This is official synopsis for the upcoming sequel:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
