Welcome to the Legion!

Once more with feeling!

Executive Producer Greg Berlanti told reporters at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour that, yes, there will be a musical crossover episode between Supergirl and The Flash. My inner musical nerd just squeed.

“Yes, there will be a musical crossover,” said Berlanti to reporters. “There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and Flash.”

But can our favorite heroes sing? If you followed any of the shows’ cast members before coming into their respective shows, the answer is easy: Hell. Yes.

Practically the entire principal cast of both shows are musically inclined. Both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist were on Glee before entering the world of superheroes. You can even watch two choice videos of their performances below. We already know Jesse L. Martin, who plays Joe West on The Flash, can sing the blues — as evidenced by his Earth 2 counterpart. But did you know that he originated the role of Tom Collins on the Broadway musical Rent? Jeremy Jordan from Supergirl is also a Broadway performer, and he sang on NBC‘s musical drama, Smash, opposite Scorpion star Katharine McPhee.

“Some of you may know my own personal love of musicals and actors who have been in them,” said Berlanti, “And we have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making some very exciting appearances in the back half of the year.”

This particular crossover will not be part of the four-way event between The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow in December. Rather, it’s its own little contained crossover featuring two of our favorite superhero besties.

Details on how they’ll work in the seemingly out-of-place musical element into the shows, but I for one hope it will be something weird and funny like a metahuman compelling our heroes to break out into musical numbers, Buffy style.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin singing on Glee:
