As the Season Three premiere of The CW’s The Flash looms closer, we’re hearing more about their casting decisions and which new DC characters are going to be thrown into the fray.  Today it was announced in an exclusive with E!News, that the Top, one of the infamous foes of the Flash, would be joining the cast of characters for this upcoming season. I’m already thinking about all of the possible scenarios of chaos that would ensue now that the Top is going to be running around and mucking up the Flash’s life in this upcoming season.

In the original comics, the Top was just a one-note villain before gaining the ability to spin at super-speed, hence taking on the name the Top. Due to things like science and how the force of speed and gravity can affect the neurological components of the brain, his abilities ended up altering his mind and allowed him to become hyper-intelligent and develop more mental abilities. Seriously, if you aren’t imagining what kind of chaos introducing the super-speedy the Top into the Flash’s life is going to bring, you are missing out in the madness that is my mind right now.

The surprising twist of the casting is that the character will be gender swapped. Ashley Rickards , known for her stints on MTV’s Awkward and One Tree Hill, has been cast as Rosalind “Rosa” Dillon, a.k.a. The Top. She’ll be appearing in the fourth episode of Season 3 as the Bonnie to Mirror Mask’s Clyde.  In my opinion, gender swapping this character is going to just make things more chaotic. I can just feel it in my bones.

The Flash Season 3 premiere will be on The CW on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 PM Eastern Standard Time.

What do you think about this casting? What do you think about The Top? What do you think about the decision to gender swapping characters? Comment below or tweet me your thoughts at @birdiesrunamok.
