Welcome to the Legion!

As first reported by Collider, Carrie Fisher gave us some hilarious answers at a recent convention as to why Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa were no longer together when we caught up with them in The Force Awakens.

We all know that good things don’t always last, but the relationship between Han and Leia was one of those that we thought would stick together. As we found out when Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted in theaters, a lot can change over time, especially relationships. We discovered that Leia had given birth to son Ben Solo, who ultimately became our primary baddie in The Force Awakens. The surprising thing we learned was that Han and Leia had parted ways on tense terms, only to be brought together by the idea that Han could somehow save his son from the Dark Side. Spoilers: He didn’t. We could see in the film that there was a lot of underlying emotions and love between the two of them but, for whatever reason, they could not make it work.

This is where the reasoning behind why they broke up takes a hilarious turn. Carrie Fisher has become known over the years for her candid responses to questions. She spared us nothing when she gave her opinion at the Saskatoon Comic & Entertainer Expo about what really caused the break up between our infamous Star Wars couple:

“He smuggled way too much. And girls, I know you don’t want your husband smuggling, do you? [And] hanging out with the hairy guy too often. I think there are a lot of problems with that. He wouldn’t take me on that hyperspace thing enough… [that’s a] euphemism.”

While the response was hilarious, one can’t help but think that there is a small hint of truth behind it. Being left behind while my man person went smuggling would definitely make me a little cranky and lonely, especially if left behind with a newborn. Sorry not sorry, Kylo Ren.

What do you think about Carrie Fisher’s response? Did you laugh? Did you groan? Do you think that there might be some truth behind the comments or is she just yanking our chains? Let us know in the comments below.
