Who knew that The Neverending Story was 37 years old? It seems like just yesterday I saw it as a little tyke on VHS in my living room.
Yesterday Google celebrated the 37th anniversary of The Neverending Story being published in 1979. The story, in my own personal opinion, has stood out as a favorite among readers of all ages due to the relatability of the plot and due to projecting onto the main character Bastian as he navigates his way through The Neverending Story after getting sucked in. As human beings we find ourselves often on a search for self-discovery and this is exactly what we witness in this book within a book as Bastian is forced to make decisions that will influence the outcome of the story’s ending.
The Google Doodle, as illustrated by Sophie Diao, takes us throughout Bastian’s quest as we’ve seen in both the book and the movie. Take a look at the doodles below and give us your thoughts.
Did you think this novel deserved a Google Doodle? Have you read the novel or seen the movie adaptation? If not, I’ve included a trailer below and politely demand you either read or watch The Neverending Story soon because it gives all the feels.
