We only have two days left until the Season 3 premiere of Star Wars: Rebels and it is looking to be the most anticipated season yet! Today Disney released some new images and new footage for the season premiere episodes “Step Into The Shadow: Part I and Part II”. The images definitely increase the hype for an already drama-filled season and also showcase the beauty behind the animation that will be done this season.

The synopsis for the premiere episodes is below:

As Kanan deals with the aftermath of his encounter with Maul, Ezra is tasked with leading rebel missions seeking ships, supplies and new recruits eager to join the cause.  With the pursuing forces of the Empire now under the direction of the cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn, the rebels must take greater risks, forge unlikely alliances and face foes from past in their efforts to support the growing rebellion.

Led by a more powerful Ezra, the rebels break an old friend out of prison to help acquire ships for the fleet, but Kanan discovers that Ezra’s new skills come from a dark place

We definitely get to see in the new clip below where Ezra is getting his skills from. We had seen the Sith Holocron in previous clips released by Disney. The Holocron made an appearance when we were introduced to Bendu. Kanan had sought out the Bendu in order to better understand how he should approach the situation with his student’s ever-increasing changes. At the time the student was not mentioned, but now we know that it is Ezra.

As you watch the clip below, I am curious to know if any of you are drawing similarities between Ezra consulting the Sith Holocron and Anakin Skywalker consulting with Palpatine.  The need to help out his friends and to acquire power in order to do so is just giving me major Anakin vibes.

The Season 3 premiere of Star Wars: Rebels is happening this Saturday, September 24, at 8:30 PM EST/PST on Disney XD. Make sure to check it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.
