This ain’t your hog riding, Johnny Blaze, Nicholas Cage-lookin’ Ghost Rider. This is Robbie Reyes (played by Gabriel Luna) mowing down his enemies with a fiery black 1969 Dodge Charger (man, ’69 had some great cars, didn’t they?).
Yahoo exclusively revealed the first full look at the latest incarnation of Marvel Comics‘ Ghost Rider, flaming skull and all. Ghost Rider will be Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s most iconic character it’s ever had, and will open up the series to the world of the supernatural, rules and all. Hey! Just in time for the show to be not at all relevant in the upcoming Dr. Strange movie!
Ghost Rider’s appearance isn’t the show’s only big shake-up. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is also moving to Tuesday’s 10 p.m. time slot. Chloe Bennett comments that the season will get to be “darker and sexier.” If you’re familiar with the themes that coincide with any version of Ghost Rider, that means Agents will have to deal with vengeance, penance, the line between good and evil, and who deserves to live or die. “These massive themes [are] being threaded throughout our season,” Bennett says.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres September 20, 2016 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
