Ashley Eckstein, the founder of Her Universe made an announcement today stating that Her Universe will be officially joining Hot Topic’s family of brands. Now, before you all freak out, this is not the end of Her Universe nor will the brand be specifically exclusive to Hot Topic.
Ashley will still be the founder of Her Universe and will be overseeing the company just as she’s always done. Here’s a list of things that will still change, even though Her Universe has been acquired by Hot Topic:
- The brand is still a stand-alone brand.
- It will still be available at multiple retailers, so it won’t just be at Hot Topic.
- And the Her Universe Fashion Show and Her Universe Press are still going to be happening.
So if all of those are still happening, then what changes will happen now that Her Universe is joining Hot Topic? Here’s what you can expect now that this partnership will be providing Her Universe with so many opportunities to grow and explore different areas:
- We will finally get more plus-sized clothing. YAY!
- The Her Universe designs will now be able to be offered in Europe.
- We’ll get more fashion for the manly men folk out there.
- Her Universe Press will get a whole new re-launch.
- More licenses, active-wear, and more fashion things will be offered.
The decision to join forces with Hot Topic will allow the company to grow in a way that it might not have been able to without the partnership, especially as the demand for Her Universe items continues to soar. In an official statement from Ashley, she explained her decision to join forces with Hot Topic:
“We were able to grow our t-shirt brand into a fashion, entertainment, and publishing lifestyle brand in just a few years. However, as we continued to grow, I heard your cries for more and I was often left frustrated that we could not live up to your expectations. I’m beyond excited to share that this new chapter with Hot Topic will allow us to rise to those expectations!”

All of this could not have been done without the support of the fans of Her Universe. All of the growth and all of the development is all because of you and the wonderful innovative powers of Ashley Eckstein. Now, the opportunities are endless with what this partnership will bring. I can’t wait to see what happens!
Within the next few days, Her Universe’s website will be down as the website transitions into this new change. The website will be up in time for the holiday season. You can still find Her Universe clothing items at Hot Topic, Think Geek, Torrid, BoxLunch, and Disney Parks.
