New York Comic Con aka NYCC is growing to be the East Coast’s answer to San Diego Comic Con. Major studios are heading there this weekend to promote their upcoming new shows and movies that are anticipated to be released in the next year or two. In anticipation for the con this weekend, we are already starting to get the first round of teaser trailers for next year’s blockbusters.

Today Fox released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming third installment in its Planet of the Apes franchise reboot. The title of the film is War for the Planet of the Apes, another long and lengthy title for the franchise. The film acts as a direct followup to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

The teaser trailer doesn’t offer much. It’s more like a digital billboard with an emerging image of Caesar covered with falling snow. There is a voice over from Caesar declaring war against the humans for the Planet of the Apes. More information is expected to be announced during Fox’s official panel for the film tonight at 8:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
