Today Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems released the international trailer for the upcoming final film in their Resident Evil franchise. Some of the material is rehashed from previous clips that were released earlier this year, with some clips being as recent as New York Comic Con. However, this new trailer provides us with a lot more information and shows us how high the stakes truly are in this final installment.
One person that we definitely see a lot more of is the fully verified evil man himself Dr. Alexander Isaacs, who is played by Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen. For those of you, like myself, who have skipped segments of this franchise like the bad people we are, Dr. Isaacs made his first appearance at the end of the Resident Evil: Apocalypse movie. He is given a further expanded role in the follow up Resident Evil: Extinction, where we discover that he is the head scientist for the North American Umbrella Facility. He was in charge of the Nemesis program and for the creation of Program Alice.
What makes the international trailer and Dr. Alexander Isaacs interesting for me is that the original Dr. Isaacs died at the end of Extinction after evolving into a Tyrant. I do notice a name change between the two, so this one is definitely a clone (knowing how the realm of Resident Evil works). He just has to be!
The official synopsis for the film is below:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
Milla Jovovich stars as Alice, alongside Ali Larter as Claire Redfield and Ruby Rose in the role of Abigail. The movie is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the husband of Jovovich.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter hits theaters on January 27, 2017. Make sure you check out the trailer below and let us know what you think about it.
