Welcome to the Legion!

Doctor Who has been absent from our televisions for far too long. We’re not getting the next season until next year, but the Doctor Who Christmas Special will arrive right on schedule, like a present from Old Saint Nick. Today the BBC has released a new poster and details about the event, which will include a superhero! (You may have guessed that from the teaser from two weeks ago, which I’ve included for you below.)

The special stars Matt Lucas as Nardole, Charity Wakefield as Lucy, Justin Chatwin as The Ghost and, of course, Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. It’s written by Steven Moffat. Here are the official details:

This Christmas sees the Doctor join forces with a masked Superhero for an epic New York adventure. With brain-swapping aliens poised to attack, the Doctor and Nardole link up with an investigative reporter and a mysterious figure known only as The Ghost. Can the Doctor save Manhattan? And what will be revealed when we see behind the mask?

In addition, BBC America will air a Doctor Who Takeover marathon. The new season of Doctor Who will premiere with the spin-off Class in Spring 2017. Check out the poster below.
