We finally have a first official look at what Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast will look like. In an exclusive by Entertainment Weekly,  we get to see the cover of the magazine proudly featuring a live version what is the infamous ballroom scene from the original animated film.

Anyone who has seen the original animated film probably fondly recalls that scene. The two main characters Belle and the Beast dance together in a beautifully animated sequence, which looked even more amazing when the 3D release came out in theaters a couple years ago. In the background you hear Angela Lansbury singing the trademark song and all the feels start to happen. That is what this cover is trying to evoke and, unfortunately, it falls flat. Part of that may have to do with the photos that were leaked a couple months ago.

The photos that were leaked were unofficially released by an unknown website and took the internet by storm. Unfortunately, as I predicted would happen after these pictures spread all over the internet, it influenced my opinion of this cover as I’m sure it will influence others’ opinions when they finally get a glance at this cover. I will be very much interested to hear what you all think of this first look because, honestly, I’m not impressed.

However, the stills that EW released to accompany the cover look a lot more promising. I am not a fan of the yellow dress that they made for the live-action version, but my expectations were set rather low for that dress. However, I am loving seeing how on point Gaston looks in the stills. The new details on Belle’s infamous blue dress are also pretty nice. You can check out the stills below.

Emma Watson is playing Belle in a new live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.  Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) costars as the Beast, Luke Evans (The Hobbit) as Belle’s egomaniacal suitor Gaston, and Josh Gad (Frozen) as Gaston’s sidekick, Le Fou. Ewan McGregor voices the enchanted, “Be Our Guest”-performing candelabra Lumière and Sir Ian McKellen plays the clock Cogsworth. Alan Menken and Tim Rice wrote new songs for the film, but we will be seeing possible classics return to the screen as well. The film is directed by Bill Condon and the costumes are designed by Jacqueline Durran.

The live-action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will be released in theaters next year on March 17, 2016. What do you think of this cover? Are you excited or underwhelmed? Please let us know.
