Today the first look at BBC’S Doctor Who Christmas Special was released by BBC in correlation with BBC’s Telethon for their Children in Need program.

In this Christmas Special, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) teams up with an investigative journalist (Charity Wakefield) and a superhero in order to save New York City from an alien threat. In this special, we will see the return of Matt Lucas as Nardole, a former employee of River Song who just happens to be obscenely good at making mistakes. We will also see Justin Chatwin in a guest starring role.

This special was written by Steven Moffat and directed by Ed Bazalgette. 

The official title of this Doctor Who Christmas Special is ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio‘. The Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on BBC America on Christmas Day.
