You can’t have a bunch of talented singers occupying the same(-ish) universe and not feature them in at least one musical crossover. This coming spring, the CW will have a special, full-blown musical episode featuring the cast from The Flash and Supergirl — Jesse L. Martin, Jeremy Jordan, Carlos Valdes, Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin (all of whom are either from Broadway or Glee). Now it seems another star from the DC TV universe will be joining the group: Another Broadway vet, Victor Garber from Legends of Tomorrow.
It’s currently unknown whether or not Garber will appear in the musical crossover for sure, but executive producer Greg Berlanti is well aware of Garber’s singing talents, and he seems to think he can’t do a superhero musical and not include Garber.
“Oh, I’d be crazy not to,” Berlanti told ComicBook.com when asked if Martin Stein (Garber) would be involved in the musical crossover. “He’s got one of the best voices. He actually sang for me at an event once, and if I ever get married, I’d have him sing at the wedding.”
We already know Martin Stein has the pipes to hold his own if cast in the musical episode. Earlier this season, Stein posed as Hitler’s favorite singer in order to distract a bar full of Nazis while the Legends crew fulfill a mission. Stein sang “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music, which had its own level of hilarity as the song is sung while the Von Trapp family make plans to peace out of the country under the Nazis’ noses.
Not much else is known about the musical event, though it has been stated that it will contain already existing music as well as a few new ones (original music?).
“Next week we’ll have to start talking about clearing music,” said Berlanti. “I have a few ideas for tone and style in my head but we’re just starting to talk about what that can be. I do want to try and get an original piece of music written. As we make a deal on that we’ll probably make some announcements on the original songs.”
