Welcome to the Legion!

NBC is probably the only major network that hasn’t tried its hand at the superhero hype yet. I take that back. They had Heroes, but ultimately squandered what little appeal it had left after the Writers’ Strike. They’re going to try their hand at the zeitgeist again with the insurance comedy, Powerless. After some hype, the network finally announced a premiere date.

NBC confirmed today that Powerless will premiere on February 2, 2017 as part of its winter/spring programming block, just a few weeks after shows return from their winter breaks. NBC has not confirmed how many episodes Powerless will air for its first season, but 12 episodes seems like a safe bet.

Powerless follows a group of regular Joes and Janes who work at a life insurance company. Riveting, right? It should be since this world also has a bunch of superheroes and villains running around and wrecking everything on a daily basis. Did we mention Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman live in this universe as well? Because they totally do. The leading lady is Emily Locke, played by Vanessa Hudgens. She insures the families of people who have been injured or killed as a result of some super heroic face-off against a super villain. What are the chances we’ll hear a lot about Metropolis when Superman fought Zod? Danny Pudi (Community) and Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One) also star.

  • Looks like ABC was too slow getting Damage Control off the ground. Although, this appears to be different in the fact that the leads have no powers. Ill check it out, if only because of Tudyk.
