The second official trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events has arrived and, man, is it good!
This trailer showcases Neil Patrick Harris as the infamous Count Olaf, showing the various dark and light nuances that the character possessed more of in the book series. It is definitely a different take to the character in comparison to Jim Carrey’s version from the movie a decade ago. In the second half of the trailer, we do get to see more of the Baudelaire children and their goals of survival. This focus on the children was something that was heavily missing from the first trailer Netflix released.
I can definitely say that I am super excited for this series!
The official synopsis for the series is below:
Based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) and starring Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – whose evil guardian Count Olaf will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death.
The eight-episode series is a Netflix original production, executive produced by Emmy Award winner Barry Sonnenfeld and Daniel Handler. The series stars Neil Patrick Harris (Count Olaf), Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire), Louis Heines (Klaus Baudelaire), K. Todd Freeman (Mr. Arthur Poe), Patrick Warburton (Lemony Snicket), Aasif Mandvi (Uncle Monty), and Joan Cusack (Justice Strauss).
